iPhone could be connected to everything with new Apple patent

Apple has applied for a new patent for the iPhone which could see the device become an even more integral part of every day life than it already is.

Whether you're an iPhone fan or not, there's no denying that iPhone users find themselves using them for everything, from standard smartphone stuff like checking email, through to very specific applications tailored to a wide range of interests. However, the phone's range of tricks could be about to get wider, if a new patent Apple has applied for is anything to go by.
The company is attempting to patent using the iPhone combined with NFC technology to talk to and control other electronic devices - possibly including TVs, stereos etc. NFC - or Near Field Communication - is a technology for sending information over short distances, and in particular it is associated with touch communication - think Oyster cards. Stickers on consumer devices would carry essential communication information, which could then be accessed by touch, so that by touching the iPhone against, say, a TV, a web address could be provided where an application could be downloaded to the iPhone, allowing it to stream video to the TV.
While the patent may not be successful, the fact that Apple is applying for it gives some insight into its vision of the future for the iPhone - which appears to be world domination.
