Downgrade iPhone 3G FW from 4.0 to 3.1.3 or 3.1.2
Do you like this story?
We all know Apple released iPhone OS 4.0 for developers. If you are a member of iPhone Developer Program you can go head and update your iPhone to the Next Generation Version which is iPhone OS 4.0. We have reiterated you that this jailbreak is not meant for the average end-user. There are few many things broken with this jailbroken apps on the 4.0 Beta 1. Please read everything in this tutorial and then follow the step by step guide.
Now that you have tried iPhone OS 4.0 and want to get back to iPhone OS 3.1.3 or 3.1.2, you can follow the below step by step guide. Remember the below step by step guide will only downgrade your FW from iPhone 4.0 to iPhone 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 or lower. It won’t downgrade your base-band. We will be using fuzzy band to downgrade your based-band.
Important Note: Downgrading your base-band will only work on those iPhone 3G devices where your bootloader is 05.08 and base-band is 05.13.03. By using fuzzy band you can downgrade your base-band to the old base-band 04.26.08. Once we get to that you can use ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone 3G. If you have used blackra1n and/or blacksn0w to jailbreak or unlock your device, then the chances for downgrading is none. If you are clear with above, please follow the step by step guide on your own risk.
Step 1: Download the firmware of your choice to downgrade. & Download rslite or irecovery
Step 2: Connect your iPhone to your computer
Step 3: Put your iPhone into DFU mode.
Step 4: Once your iPhone is DFU mode, iTunes will prompt a message “iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode”. Click “OK”
Step 5: Now, Hold down the Option Key and click Restore on your iTunes.
Step 6: Sit and relax, let the iTunes do the magic (Let it restore.)
Step 7: At the end of restore you will get error 1015.
Step 8: Now, open the downloaded rslite folder and run rslite (Which will open in terminal)
Step 9: This will by pass error 1015. If you get the following message then make sure you put the iPhone back in DFU mode
Connecting…
Apple Mobile Device not found in Recovery or DFU
logout
Step 10: Execute the following
setenv auto-boot trueThat’s it. Now, you should be back with iPhone running 3.1.3 or 3.1.2.
saveenv
