Hacktivation and iTunes Version Advise ? [Q]

I just received my iPhone 4 with iOS of 4.0.2 that i bought locked from the states . I read a lot on the forums that it’ll need activation once i turn it on and it can only be done through an AT&T sim card or a phonebook sim card, but the second i connected mine into iTunes i was able to slide to open.

Now I have iTunes v9.2, if I update it to v10 would that make me lose the activation when I update the iOS to 4.1 as well ??
