Massive Data Usage during Overseas Tour [Q]

I have just been to America for just over two weeks. I have come back to a massive bill. What i can’t understand is that i did not surf the web and changed non of my settings from the UK. I get 5 or so emails a day. I opened a few but nothing substantial. Vodafone tells me i used 88mb of data during that time. Since coming back in the first 10 days in the UK and using more emails i have
used 13mb. I just cant understand how this 88mb happened. any thoughts ?
