SHSH All Guides [How to] [video]

In the world of jailbreak, the notion of SHSH has gained importance since the arrival of iOS 4.x.
This concerns the majority of iDevices and concerns about a restoration of an old firmware (operating system) via the iTunes software.

Preamble :

Currently, if you want to do a system restore (IOS) of your iDevice, Apple through the iTunes software will only allow you to restore the latest firmware today.
If you try to restore an earlier version of the iOS on your iDevice, iTunes software will display an error.
This will allow the restoration of an iOS based on the signature of a file called SHSH that matches your iDevice. This file is unique to each SHSH iDevice as UDID (unique device identifier).
Apple indicates that the latest firmware today, so Saurik (the creator of Cydia) has set up a server that hosts your signatures SHSH allowing the restoration of all OS 3x or iOS 4x if and only if you signed your file SHSH correpsondant the firmware of the moment .
We can bypass the validation of Apple for the restoration of an old firmware via iTunes] software.

example:

At the time iOS  4.1 firmware, you are jailbroken or not, you should have signed your SHSH your iDevice corresponding to 4.1 for the IOS you can restore that same iOS 4.1 When an IOS would be available as the higher iOS 4.2 x.

To sign your file SHSH iDevice for your current firmware, there are 2 UDMA:
  •  With software TinyUmbrella (from the computer) for users jailbroken or non-jailbroken .
  •  With Cydia (since iDevice only) for users jailbroken.
TinyUmbrella
  •  3G/3GS/4 iPhone, iPod 2G (TM) 3G, 4G and iPad.
  •  Jailbreak  or not jailbroken.
  •  All iOS 3x or iOS 4x.
  •  The latest version of Java on your computer.

This software for Windows users, Mac and Linux will allow you to sign and send to the server Saurik, stoker on his computer files for the current firmware SHS and also pick up your old files SHSH signed for old firmware if this is the case at the time.

  •  For a non-jailbroken, it can help you the day you decide to go to the dark side of the jailbreak!
  •  Download the latest version of TinyUmbrella.
  •  Connect your computer to your iDevice.
  •  Launch TinyUmbrella.exe.
  •  Click on "Save SHSH"

Note: If you have already signed a file for your SHSH iDevice for an old firmware at the time, with each new firmware release from Apple, you are automatically signed on SHSH  Saurik server.

  •  This software also allows you to move in or out of Recovery mode (mode in which the iOS is loaded at startup, DFU is a mode in which the iOS is not loaded at startup.)
  •  Storing your file SHSH signed for a given firmware on your computer.
  •  Some configuration settings are available.
  •  This software is also assisting the restoration of an old firmware (signed) on your iDevice via iTunes software without error.

You can save your file SHSH for an iPhone (not activated via iTunes stuck on the Apple cable +), simply place your iPhone in DFU or Recovery and create and sign your own by clicking on Manual iDevice CDIS.
