Text Msgs are Never Received or Delivered ? [Q]

I haven’t been getting texts other people send me, even though they never get an error msg. Also, the same thing happens to some msgs that I send. This is not all msgs just randomly.
I also sometime get a weird msg pop up on my home screen saying my sim just sent a msg when I did not.
I’m not tech savvy at all and the phone is essentially on factory settings.
