Opera Mini iPhone App Finally Approved, Available for Free

Reuters informs us that the impossible has happened: Apple has finally approved the Opera Mini iPhone app into its system. The application is available for free, after a long review from the Cupertino giant. Here’s Opera Mini 5 in action on the iPhone, in case you forgot what we’re dealing with here:

We remind you that the technology behind this browser allows it to compress data by up to 90% before having it reach the handset. This means that pages will load faster and you’ll save a lot of money from your monthly data plan. Lars Boilesen, Opera Software CEO stated that Opera is delighted to offer the Mini browser to iPod touch and iPhone users.
Said browser is even fast on an EDGE connection, or even a slow WiFi network and the reason for loving this solution more than Safari Mobile is simple: Opera Mini is 2.5 times faster than Apple’s browser. Zooming and scrolling work perfectly, with the first being available through double tap or pinch to zoom.
A thumbnail of loaded pages will be shown once you’re selecting a tab and we also like the feature that allows you to search for text in the page. As far as flaws are concerned, Flash is not supported and some pages’ modules don’t show up correctly, leaving empty space behind.
