Q: Cannot Access Home Screen after iOS 4.0.1 update on iPhone 3GS

If my iphone 3gs is locked and you cannot get in to the home screen after you updated to ios 4.0.1 , how can i access it so i can download jailbreak (cydia) in my iphone 3GS. Please guide me to solve this problem on my iphone 3GS .
