Could Not Activate Cellular Data Network Error on iPhone 4 ? [Q]

I bought an iPhone 4 in US and wanted to use the same in India. I did follow the instructions on internet to jailbreak and unlock my phone. I am able to use the phone with Airtel and I activated data plan. But whenever I try to access internet I am getting message – “Could not Activate Cellular data network“. Does using custom APN solve the problem ? How to create profile using custom APN ? Please help.

Enable [Cellular Data Network] GPRS/EDGE/APN
