How to Activate iPhone 4 – Im from Spain ? [Q]

I just got the iPhone4 as a gift. I live in Spain, and it comes from the USA But I was said it has the iOS 4.1, and when I switch on, it asks me to connect to iTunes. When I do so, it tells me that my card (Spanish operator card) is not compatible, so it cannot be activated.
Is there any way to jailbreak / unlock the iPhone ? How can I use it as least as an iTouch ?
Thanks for your help and sorry if this is a common problem, but I am pretty new to the iPhone world…
