Upgrade from iOS 4.0.2 to 4.1 ? [Q]

My iPhone 4 is running iOS 4.0.2. It seems unlikely that there will ever be a jailbreak for that version. Should I upgrade to iOS 4.1 and wait for the jailbreak for it, or might I inadvertently screw things up by doing so ? I’m just jittery after ruining the jailbreak opportunities on my phone by upgrading to 4.0.2.
