Will the New Jailbreak Work with iTunes 10 & Unlock [Q]

I just got an Iphone 4 and it came with 4.1 so I’m out of luck for now. But I wanted to use it with a different carrier so I need to be able to unlock it. Is that a given that the new Jailbreak will come with the capability to Unlock?  Also I’ve never had an Ipod so I’ve never had Itunes. The only one I
see on Apple.com is Itunes 10. Is that my only choice. I guess I could get Itunes 9.2 but I don’t know which legacy site I can trust.
